Interest Groups

Apart from a very few exceptions, to join in any of our activities, you must be a current member of Stanford-le-Hope and District u3a

The general idea of a u3a is that members share their skills, experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm  to pass on information between themselves and each other without the need for paid tutors.

Group Members are therefore both Educators and Learners.

u3a Interest Groups depend on mutual support and the sharing of knowledge. They are formed by members with a common interest, suggesting a topic, discussing together what and how they wish to learn, and then deciding on how to achieve their aims. One of u3a's guiding principles is that learning must primarily be for fun and enjoyment. There are no tests, examinations or qualifications, although Group Members are sometimes involved in carrying out research on specific subjects in which they have an interest.
