Our speaker for Thursday 13th February 2025 is Mike Farley, as Good King Hal.
Mike Farley is one of Britain's leading King Henry VIII impersonators and his mixture of history & humour has rave reviews from all who've seen him. With his imposing figure, booming voice, wicked humour & musical skills it's little wonder he is in such high demand with TV and Radio nationwide. You can also see him regularly as King Henry VIII in residence at Leeds Castle in Kent.

Membership renewals for 2025/2026 commenced at our January general meeting and will continue until 30th April 2025 with membership fees remaining at £15-00. Renewal forms available at the meeting or download from website. If paying by BACs please email Paul Brice to let him know.

Romford Greyhound Racing - Tuesday 15th April 2025
This event is fantastic value for money.
We have managed to secure up to 96 places for this trip.
The tickets available are £38.00 per head and they include your entry to the Romford Greyhound Stadium, a three course meal with wonderful views overlooking the track, your travel to and from the stadium and your coach drivers tips.
There is excellent table service for all of your food, drinks and bets.
The last race is at around 18:00 at which point we shall start making our way home.

Advance Notice of an Outing to Brooklands Museum
Brooklands Museum is a large open-air museum with many period buildings and exhibits, some with stepped access. There is no wheelchair access to board our aircraft, which all have steps, including Concorde. Wheelchairs are welcome. Tenterden and The Kent and East Sussex Railway - Tuesday 20th May '25
We will start our day visiting Tenterden. Known as the Jewel of the Weald. It is a very appealing town with a tree lined green, a wealth of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. you will also find many architectural rarities. Following this will make our way to join the train.
The Kent and East Sussex railway (KESR) is a renowned heritage railway based in Tenterden, Kent. It has a rich history spanning over 120 years and it offers visitors an authentic steam railway experience through the beautiful Wealden countryside as it travels from Tenterden Station to Bodiam before returning.
On the train whilst enjoying the wonderful views you will be able to enjoy a Cheese and Ham Ploughmen's with your choice of Tea or Coffee.
Tickets for this trip will be available from Christine Gomm and Jean Jardine at our March General meeting. The cost is £53.00, this includes your travel, train fare, ploughmen's and any tips.
We have 50 places for this event which will be sold on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

We have seats in the dress circle. If you have a mobility difficulty please let know as we can be escorted via a different entrance.

New ukulele players
From Monday 3rd March if anyone from Stanford Le Hope and District u3a and they have a ukulele, they are very welcome to join us for a session. There is plenty of room in the hall and we will be happy to guide you with the playing if you need us. We will be there from 2-4pm.
