ITS OUR AGM ON THURSDAY 11th SEPTEMBER

Following our AGM on Thursday 11th September we will be running a Fun Quiz.

Personnel changes: Paul Brice is standing down as Treasurer after 9 years committee service, with Mel Fox nominated as his replacement.

Chris Gomm and Jean Jardine are standing down after 10 years as Organisers of Day Trips. They have both committed an incredible amount of time and effort to provide our members with many memorable days out, as well as organizing Christmas Meals and Celebration Lunches.

BASIC FRENCH CONVERSATION

It is with regret I must announce that this group will no longer continue due to illness of one our participants. If there are any of our u3a members who would be interested in being involved with an Advanced French conversation group, please let Diane know, because there is a good chance we could form such a group.

COACH HOLIDAY NEXT YEAR We will be selling the Yorkshire Coach Holiday in October.

LOCAL HISTORY The next meeting for Local History members is on Monday 22nd September, will be at Thameside Nature Discovery Park (known locally as Mucking), for a Thameside Talk and Walk by former Estate Manager, Jimmy Allan.

The walk, which follows the talk, will take approximately 40 minutes, but those who feel they cannot do the walk are very welcome to stay inside the centre and admire the view. The cost will be £5, to be paid on the day.

A reminder to those Local History members who wish to come to the Thameside Talk and Walk, to let Diane know by Monday 15th September.

Cressing Temple Barns Christmas Fayre/Braintree Freeport 14th November

Tickets will be on sale at the SEPTEMBER General Meeting

Cost £20 per person - We did this trip last year and it was very successful. There were a great collection of stalls, some outside, some in large marquees and some in the barns. There are also stalls selling teas and coffees, cakes and some hot food. We will leave the barns at 1 pm to arrive at Braintree approximately 1.15. There are restaurants there if you want a meal and, of course, lots of designer shops to browse around.

Pick up times are Lampits Hill 9.10am; Springhouse bus stop 9.20am and The Oak 9.30am
