Speaker for Thursday 10th April 2025

Our speaker is Andrew Babicz whose talk is about RHS Wisley Gardens. Surely the flagship of the RHS, Wisley captures the imagination with richly planted borders, luscious rose gardens and the state-of -the-art Glasshouse. Gifted to the Society in 1903, Wisley has evolved over time into a world-class garden.

In the trial fields, the finest flowers and vegetables are identified from the countless new introductions.  Elsewhere in the garden, cultivation techniques are tried and tested, and a series of model gardens answers the needs of a variety of conditions and circumstances.

Our Last General Meeting

Thanks to all who donated towels, cat food and dog food to the South Essex Wildlife Hospital (SEWH) at our last u3a meeting on Thursday 13th March. Also, thanks to members’ generosity, you raised over £500 to donate to the SEWH.

If you are an income tax payer, when renewing your u3a membership you can agree to sign up to Gift Aid which allows our u3a to claim relief against your membership fee. Even if you agree to Gift Aid for other charities, you can still Gift Aid your u3a subscription fee. This does not cost anyone a penny, unless your total Gift Aid exceeds your annual income tax payment.

Membership Renewals

As we enter a new membership year, we ask that ALL group leaders verify their members are current members of our u3a. Please email your membership list to our Membership Secretary, who will in return let you know of anyone that has not renewed their membership.
