Welcome to STANFORD-LE-HOPE and DISTRICT u3a
Stanford-le-Hope and District u3a began on the 12th February 2014 at the "Welcome Club" in Stanford-le-Hope. Volunteers formed a steering group and organised an Inaugural Meeting. On the 8th May 2014 over 200 people attended our first meeting at "The Springhouse", Corringham and around 75% joining up on the day. The Stanford -le-Hope and District u3a, part of a National Organisation, was born.
A General Meeting is held on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at

At our monthly General Meetings, members receive information relating to local and national u3a issues, followed by a guest speaker who provides an interesting talk on a variety of topics. A monthly "Newsletter", available at General Meetings as a printed copy, provides details of current and future activities, including information about our groups.. Both current and past newsletters can be viewed here. News Tea and coffee is available to purchase.
Admittance to the General Meetings is by membership card only (insurance reasons) New members, visitors and any member that has misplaced their membership card are asked to sign in with the Membership Secretary.

The heart of any u3a is its Interest Groups. We have a fair number of Interest Groups running, and is continuing to expand to cover a wide and varied range of interests. All our groups meet in members’ homes, local halls and venues as appropriate. We have groups that organise Celebration Meals, Holidays, Day Trips and Theatre Trips that are open to ALL members.
At the top of our webpages, there are buttons, (NAVIGATION BUTTONS) to take Members or Visitors to different parts of our website such as this Welcome page, our Interest Groups pages or where you can find information on how to join or renew your u3a membership. The Stanford le Hope and District u3a is a registered charity run by its members for its members, by pooling and sharing members’ skills, abilities and time. The Stanford-le-Hope and District u3a is an excellent resource for retired people in the local area and as a member you can have a major influence on what is provided and how this u3a is run.
In November 2015 we achieved Charity status. Registered Charity Number 1164247.
